The photo is the former U.S. Navy's
DD-839 Power, now the Republic of China (Taiwan) Navy's DDG-923
Sheng-Yang. This is the LAST ex-Gearing Class DD still
in active service in Taiwan. This photo was taken on Feb. 7th, 2005, at
Keelung Naval base, Taiwan. DDG-923 is planned to be decommissioned in
2005 or 2006, after the first two Kidd Class Destroyers (DDG-1801 Chi-Teh
and DDG-1802 Ming-Teh) arrive Taiwan this winter.
